Gateway to NASA Earth Observation Data

The Earth Science Data and Information Systems (ESDIS) Program provides researchers, decision makers, and the public open access to NASA’s archive of Earth science data. The data and related tools help increase the understanding of environmental changes. Data are accessed from the Gateway to NASA Earth Observation Data (GNEOD) using one of the four search or browse options: the Data Catalog, Data Tools, browse by Platform, or browse by Pathfinder Topic. The Data Catalog can be searched by keywords, data collection platform, dataset name, etc. Search results, or the entire dataset collection, can also be filtered by specific parameters such as topic, observation method, and temporal or spatial parameters, to name a few. Pathfinder Topics guide users to ESDS topic-specific datasets (6 of which are included in the CHORDS Catalog). The 10 topics include: Atmosphere, Land Surface, Biosphere, Ocean, Climate Indicators, Solid Earth, Cryosphere Sun-Earth Interactions, Human Dimensions, and Terrestrial Hydrosphere. Data Tools provide access to a variety of tools for data discovery and visualization. Three tools are featured: 1) Worldview – allows browsing global imagery and downloading underlying data; 2) Vertex - a graphical search interface of synthetic aperture radar land use/cover data; and 3) Giovanni - Geospatial Interactive Online Visualization ANd aNalysis Infrastructure.
