SHV data of the centrifuge, tilt platform and pitched chair experiments

To explore whether there might be sex differences we subjected 44 supine participants (22 female) to centripetal accelerations along the long axis of the body at 0g (stationary), 0.33g, 0.66g, and 1.0g directed either towards the feet or the head using a short-arm centrifuge. They were also subjected to physical tilts of 0° (lying horizontal), 15°, 30° and 45°, both head-up and head-down, using a tilt platform. To explore the potential implications of body posture, an additional 42 participants (21 female) were tilted while seated in the dark by the same angles where 0° corresponded to the chair’s back being horizontal.
