Impermeable Surfaces Census Tract

Impermeable surfaces percent calculated for census tracts in Los Angeles County as of 2023. This dataset is derived from the land cover classification available at LARIAC7/LANDCOVER_2023 (MapServer). The land cover classification is derived from LARIAC7 aerial imagery (2023). It contains eight land cover classes: tree canopy, grass/shrubs, tall shrubs, bare soil, water, buildings, roads/railroads, and other paved. Percent impermeable surfaces is defined as: impermeable surface acreage (buildings, roads/railroads, and other paved) divided by land acreage (non-water) times 100. This dataset was developed for the LA County Chief Sustainability Office (CSO) Climate Heat Action Plan (CHAP).
