On the 28 March 2025 at 06.20 UTC , a strong earthquake of 7.7 M at a depth of 10 km occurred on in Sagaing Region, central Myanmar. The epicentre was located about 16 km north-north-west of Sagaing city, and 19 km north-west of Mandalay city. An aftershock of 6.4 M at a depth of 18 km occurred in the same area at 06.32 UTC. Almost 3 million people were exposed to severe shaking. Copernicus EMS Rapid Mapping was requested to provide Initial rough estimation, event extent and damage assessment emergency mapping.
