Transcriptomic analysis of first and fourth instar larval heads.. Spodoptera littoralis larval transcriptome

We investigated the differential expression of odorant receptors (ORs) in the first and fourth instar larvae of cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis. We were interested to know if differential expression of ORs during larval development correlates with changes in the odor-guided behavior. Our transcriptomic analysis provides the first empirical evidence of differential expression of a subset of ORs during larval development and interestingly correlates with changes in the odor-guided behavior.
