Data for "Protura are unique: First evidence of specialized feeding on ectomycorrhizal fungi in soil invertebrates"

This data provide evidence that Protura predominantly feed on mycorrhizal hyphae via sucking up hyphal cytoplasm. The predominant consumption of ectomycorrhizal mycelia by Protura is an exception among soil invertebrates and may affect carbon sequestration in temperate and boreal forests. The data include stable isotope ¹³C and ¹⁵N measurements of Protura: <i>Acerentomon </i>from a labeling experiment (methods decribed in detail in Zieger <i>et al. </i>2017, PLOS ONE), Neutral lipd fatty acid analysis of Protura: <i>Acerentomon </i>and natural abundance stable isotope ¹³C and ¹⁵N data from Protura species (for details on sampling sites and method see Klarner <i>et al.</i> 2014, Oikos).
