Whole genome sequencing of clinical Streptococcus pneumoniae strain

This study describes the whole genome sequencing of a clinical Streptococcus pneumoniae strain, isolated from the cerebrospinal fluid of a patient with pneumococcal meningitis. Genomic DNA extracted from bacterial cultures was sequenced using an Illumina MiSeq benchtop sequencer. The data were generated to determine the capsular type of the clinical strain.
