Isabgol (Plantago ovata), commercially known as Psyllium is an important medicinal plant used globally. Mitochondrial genomes of plants harbours genes for economically important traits. Our objective was to sequence the mitochondrial genome of Isabgol using next generation sequencing methods. Unravelling the mitochondrial genome facilitates discovery of genetic mechanisms unlie key economic traits of Isabgol.
