The fitting method is described in Sec. 2.2.3. This table provides the coefficient of determination R2 for each individual fit curve xdi(t) shown in panel (b) of Figs 10–14. Note that the black curves representing the theoretical total leukemic burden y(t) in each figure have not been included in the fitting procedure but have been obtained by simply adding the calculated populations of the differentiated cell clones xdi(t) at each time step. Therefore, no R2 coefficients are given for the total leukemic burden curves. R2 is defined as , where is the mean of the observed values and the summation index k refers to the time values tk at which the have been determined. The closer the value of R2 is to 1.0, the better is the fit approximation.
