This project focuses on the comprehensive analysis of a previously recorded strain of Exophiala spinifera named FM, isolated from oil-contaminated soil in Iran. The main objective is to perform whole genome sequencing to obtain a high-resolution genome assembly of this strain and unravelling the genetic makeup of Exophiala spinifera, providing insights into its genomic characteristics and potential adaptations to oil-contaminated environments. Furthermore, the project aims to reconstruct the first genome-scale metabolic model for this strain. By integrating genomics and metabolic network analysis, this model will serve as a valuable tool for understanding the metabolic capabilities and interactions of Exophiala spinifera, shedding light on its potential roles in bioremediation or other environmental processes.
