COMPARATIVE STUDY OF UZBEK AND ENGLISH FOLK LEGENDS

This article is devoted to the comparative analysis of Uzbek and English folk legends, focusing on their genre characteristics, compositional structure, and system of images. The study aims to identify typological similarities and national differences between the two folklore traditions. The research is based on comparative, descriptive, and typological methods. The results show that both Uzbek and English folk legends share common genre features, including narrative structure, mythological elements, and didactic functions, while differing in cultural specificity, character systems, and symbolic representations. The study also reveals the role of chronotope and mythological thinking in shaping the narrative structure of legends. The findings contribute to comparative folklore studies and highlight the importance of national identity in oral traditions.
