Total investment as a share of the GDP in Central America by country 2023

As of 2023, Panama registered the highest total investment as a share of GDP in Central America with 34.73 percent. In contrast, Costa Rica had the lowest with 15.4 percent. This indicator describes the ratio of total investment in current local currencies as a share of the total GDP. The International Monetary Fund defines the total investment as the overall value of the gross fixed capital formation as well as changes in inventories and acquisitions less disposals of valuables. The gross domestic product, on the other hand, represents the total value of final goods and services produced during a year.
