This series are booklets of information bulletins and drafts in chronological order. Bulletins contain an index and maps. The Bulletins were issued by the Major Airport Needs of Sydney (MANS) Committee and the New South Wales Government. The Committee was an advisory committee responsible for recommending to both Governments a suitable strategy of airport developments in the Sydney region up to the year 2000.The purpose of the Bulletin was to provide a summary of the detail analysis of factors which could influence the demand for air transport to the year 2000. A special Consultative Group undertook this analysis, with the assistance of the Bureau of Transport Economics as part of the MANS study.The Bulletin is one of a series, released as part of the Public Participation Program. That program aimed to keep the public informed about the wide variety of aspects related to the study, to give the public access to the basic information prepared for the Committee and also to draw forth comments from the public. Bulletins contain information relating to: description of zone, implications of a second airport, air space conflicts, effects on the environment, traffic management measurements, effects of changed Air Traffic Control procedures and runway development, forecasts of general aviation activities, economic analysis as well as environmental analysis such as soil, water, geology, air, plants, animals, noise, land use and development. The series also includes a copy of a survey requesting public opinion and information pamphlets explaining the Public Participation Program, the MANS Study the subject matter and organisation of the study.
