Seveso III protection zone (Linz)

The Seveso III Directive (Directive 2012/18/EU) aims at preventing major accidents involving dangerous substances and limiting the consequences of accidents for humans and the environment in order to ensure a high level of protection in the European Union. It shall apply to all establishments where certain hazardous substances are present or may arise in the event of an accident. It is crucial to exceed the thresholds set out in Annex I to the Directive. Depending on the quantities available, there are a number of obligations for both Seveso operators and the authorities.
