Cervical vagotomy and electroneurogram (VENG) approach in near-term fetal sheep

Little is known about the vagus nerve activity in near-term fetuses. The chronically instrumented unanesthetized fetal sheep model is used to study human fetal physiology, because it permits chronic instrumentation with catheters and electrodes, which allow repetitive blood sampling, substance injection and recording of bioelectrical activity.
