The present study aimed to evaluate changes in the composition of the intestinal microbiota of rats submitted to temporal lobe epilepsy. For this, 6 male Wistar rats were submitted to epileptic status induced by lithium-pilocarpine and monitored for 60 days. Animals that presented at least two spontaneous and recurrent seizures of level 3 on the Racine scale were considered epileptic. Each animal had fecal material collected before epileptic status induction (non-epileptic group) and after emergence of epileptic symptoms (epileptic group).
