Horse gut microbiome

As a species that has been raised by humans for a long time on a global scale, horses, have had a profound impact on human history and culture. The gut microbiota plays an important role in the horse's health, disease, athletic performance, and behavior. Metagenomics can be used as a method to study the intestinal microbial community of animals, contributing to a comprehensive understanding of the effects of animal intestinal microbes on the host. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to analyze and compare the composition and function of intestinal microbes between Akhal-Teke horse and Yunnan dwarf horse by establishing a metagenomic analysis pipeline, so as to provide data support for the intestinal health and disease protection of the two horses.
