In this study, we focused on the effects of seasonal changes in the air pollution on sperm DNA methylation in 24 non-smoking municipal policemen, who spend their working time patrolling outdoors, exposed to the polluted air in an industrial urban setting. We compared the sperm DNA methylation in two successive semen samples collected from each of the men following a period of high (winter season, SP) and low (summer season, SN) exposure, with the aim to reveal possible sperm DNA methylation changes associated with the air pollution dynamics.
