Global 1990-2019 virtual water trade and domestic water consumption with scarcity: imported virtual water is scarcer than domestic water globally

1990-2019, global (blue) virtual water trade and domestic water consumption 158 countries and 207 sectors both sustainably consumed and overconsumed water in the virtual water trade and domestic water consumption scarcity is measured by the overconsumed portion the sector indicating the sector that consumes water on the production side [The manuscript is under review and will be updated here once accepted.] This dataset contains annual country-level virtual water imports, exports, and domestic water consumption per sector, distinguishing sustainably consumed and overconsumed water. Via this dataset, you can get the water footprint on the production side, consumption side, and virtual water trade, covering all the sectors. Bilateral virtual water trade per sector over the period of 2015-2019 is available on the Water Footprint Network website (https://tools.waterfootprint.org/virtual-water/#/world-map). All the code, input data, and output data required to reproduce the results in this study will be archived for at least 10 years after publication within the University of Twente, Multidisciplinary Water Management (MWM) group.
