SNAP Participation by Eligibility

The data for income-eligible individuals was compiled from Census 5 year estimates (2007-2012) of the number of persons at or below 125% of the Federal Poverty Line within the given zip code. These statistics were adjusted for county-level population growth (taken from the Office of the State Demographer’s Population Projections). The number of recipients by zip code comes from a report provided to HHSC by each of the 21 member food banks. The county- and food bank-level statistics come from reports provided to TFBN by the food banks, and are annual averages of figures provided monthly. All measures should be considered estimates and are meant for general understanding of the SNAP population in the state of Texas.
