Spread The Love: positive emotion through gameplay

Spread The Love is a combination of a 2-D mobile game and limited messaging application that is aimed at creating positive emotions that fall outside of the normal definition of “fun”. Games typically challenge players, bring them satisfaction, and strive above all else to provide the player with a fun experience; however, having fun while playing a game does not equate to the player being happy or cheerful. Spread The Love exists to give the player these positive emotions that are not normally found in the current games market, and it empowers the player to share these positive emotions with other players. Built on the idea that “a smile can brighten your day”, to which I have added “especially if the smile is your own”, Spread The Love’s goals are to make the player produce a genuine smile through interacting with the application, and to provide them with a rewarding, low barrier opportunity to influence other players in a positive way.
