Angola (2005): Malaria TRaC Study Evaluating Ownership and Use of Mosquito Nets in Luanda. First Round.

In December 2004, PSI/Angola launched two distinct brands of long lasting insecticide treated nets (LLITNs), promoted via mass media and interpersonal communication. The highly subsidized Seguro e Salvo LLITN is distributed to pregnant women and mothers of children under 5 through public sector ante-natal and pediatric clinics, while Jóia, a partially subsidized LLITN, is distributed via the private sector. Cluster sampling methodology was used to select a random sample of households, stratified by municipality and bairro proportionately to population size. 1,415 heads of household or other qualified household respondents were interviewed during May 2005.
