ProgressiMicrobiota Dysbiosis Along the Health-Polyp-Carcinoma Sequence Revealed by 16S rRNA Gene Sequencing

This study investigated progressive alterations of gut microbiota along the health-polyp-carcinoma sequence in humans. Fecal samples were collected from healthy controls, patients with colorectal polyps, and patients with colorectal cancer. The bacterial community composition was analyzed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing targeting the V3-V4 region on the Illumina MiSeq platform. These data provide insights into the stepwise dysbiosis of gut microbiota during colorectal tumorigenesis and may facilitate the identification of microbial biomarkers for early detection and prevention of colorectal cancer.
