Dataset on Submesoscale Kinetic and Potential Energy Variations Pre- and Post-Symmetric Instability
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains diagnostic outputs from numerical ocean model simulations, focusing on submesoscale energy variations before and after the occurrence of symmetric instability (SI). The simulation resolves submesoscale processes within the ocean surface mixed layer, with spatial scales on the order of O(0.1–10 km), and includes the following key dynamic variables: Submesoscale Kinetic Energy (SMKE) Submesoscale Potential Energy (SMPE) Potential-to-Kinetic Energy Conversion (PKE) Barotropic Shear Kinetic Energy Production (BSK) Advection of Kinetic and Potential Energy (ADK/ADP) Pressure Work (PW) The dataset is organized into two temporal phases: before SI (symmetric stable or weakly stratified conditions) and after SI (developed symmetric instability phase). It provides a valuable resource for studying energy pathways and instability mechanisms in the upper ocean. Data are stored in .mat format, and metadata for each variable is included in the files.
