The goal of this study is to provide a high quality assembly for this model organism. H37Ra is the avirulent counterpart of H37Rv, which is the primary reference strain for Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The difference between these two strains has been extensively studied for the mechanisms of virulence in the pathogen.
