Nevertheless, many livestock breeds face risks in their reproduction, with nearly 1,500 livestock breeds worldwide currently under the threat of extinction. To safeguard biodiversity, it is necessary to establish national or regional gene banks for livestock and poultry breeds. The Global Livestock Diversity Information dataset launched by CnOpenData compiles relevant data on livestock breeds and livestock biodiversity, covering data of over 9,000 breeds across approximately 40 species from nearly 200 countries. Its core objective is to mitigate the adverse impacts of various threats on global livestock biodiversity.
