Summary information on treatment provided to midwifery patients was recorded in the birth register. Information included: date of admission, drugs administered, date of delivery (birth), time of delivery, record number, mother's name, sex of baby, mother's home address, name of medical officer, name of nurse, and remarks (brief). (In the early period at least, these records were created under the Midwives Act 1928, Regulations, Second schedule, Form 7.)Summary information about offspring was also recorded, e.g., gender, weight and condition.At time of transfer (2005), the whereabouts of the birth register post-May 1979 was not known.Records related to registration of treatment procedures, such as the birth register, are sentenced as 'permanent' records under PROS 99/04 General Disposal Schedule for Public Health Services Patient Information Records, class 6.1.0.
