Analytical Dataset for Geospatial and Socioeconomic Inequalities in WASH-Related Infectious Disease Risk in Somalia, SDHS 2020

This repository contains the analytical dataset, supplementary materials, geospatial outputs, and statistical code associated with the study entitled “Geospatial Distribution and Socioeconomic Inequalities of Environmental Risk Factors Associated with WASH-Related Infectious Disease Risk in Somalia.” The analysis utilized nationally representative Somalia Demographic and Health Survey (SDHS) 2020 data to assess household-level environmental risk associated with unsafe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) conditions across Somalia. A composite environmental risk index was constructed to evaluate geographic and socioeconomic inequalities in WASH-related infectious disease risk. Included materials comprise: cleaned analytical dataset, Stata do-files, supplementary methods, operational definitions and variable coding schemes, geospatial outputs and supplementary figures. The study applied survey-weighted statistical analysis and GIS-based spatial analysis to identify regional disparities and socioeconomic determinants of environmental health risk in Somalia.
