Thraustochytrid strain 12B produces significant amount of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) such as docosahexaenoic acid. In order to better understand the unique characteristics of the strain for efficient production of PUFAs, and to improve its productivity, whole genome sequencing of the strain was performed.
