The rare actinomycete Actinoplanes missouriensis grows as vegetative hyphae and forms sporangia containing flagellated spores. In response to water, the sporangia open up and release the spores into external environment. The tcrA and hhkA genes encode the two-component system response regulator and sensor histidine kinase, respectively. Both of the tcrA and hhkA mutants show defects in spore dormancy and sporangium dehiscence. In this study, the transcriptomes of the wild-type, tcrA, and hhkA mutant strains were analyzed by RNA-Seq analysis using the Illumina platform.
