In this study, we utilized single-cell transcriptome sequencing and bulk transcriptome analysis to explore the multicellular ecosystem and functional alterations in conjunctival tissue across various stages of dry eye disease (DED). Our findings underscore the complex immune microenvironment in the ocular surface and the intricate interactions contributing to the development and progression of inflammation in DED. Overall, this research enhances our understanding of the mucosal immune system within the ocular surface, which holds implications for investigating ocular surface inflammation-related diseases.
