Mancos Canyon has been the site of ongoing archaeological investigations by.the University of Colorado for several years in connection with the development of the Ute Mountain Archaeological Park. Pollen analysis has supplemented the archaeological analysis since 1974. While previous pollen studies have focused on the recovery of general environmental data about the sites and their features, this study was designed to sample for ethnobotanic pollen. The basic purpose of the study is to establish use patterns for ceramic vessels and certain other features and define ethnobotanic pollen types.
