This project focuses on characterizing multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae isolated from influent wastewater samples collected at the Laramie Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Using a culture-dependent approach, influent samples were processed through serial dilutions and selective plating on antibiotic-containing media to isolate resistant strains. Species identification was performed using MALDI-TOF MS, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing was conducted via broth microdilution following CLSI guidelines. Selected isolates underwent whole genome sequencing (WGS), with data processed using bioinformatics tools such as Trimmomatic, SPAdes, Prokka, and Abricate. Resistance genes were identified using the ResFinder and CARD databases, while plasmid types, sequence types, and virulence factors were also determined. This genomic dataset provides insights into the resistome and genetic features of multidrug-resistant Enterobacteriaceae circulating in untreated municipal wastewater, contributing to wastewater-based AMR surveillance efforts.
