资源简介:
Introduction: Preterm infants’ growth velocity is currently monitored by weight, body length (BL) and head circumference (HC). For brain growth, 3D cranial volume (CrV) is considered a clinical more reliable estimator than 2D HC. The PreemieScanner is a novel 3D measuring technique for monitoring BL, HC and CrV. PreemieScanner’s clinical usability was validated in a simulated neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) setting. Materials and Methods: Three dolls representing extreme low birthweight preterms (ELBW; BW < 1000 gram) were prepared with an Optiflow-front or -back breathing system. Nurses measured HC with measuring tape (control). Nurses also marked anatomical landmarks on 3D PreemieScanner images. Calculated were 1) number of successful measurements, 2) percentage of measurements lying within clinically allowed precision limits, defined by the smallest expected weekly growth of a P50 preterm infant.
