Clonal Olive trees collection (PPGR-OLIVE-01)

The dataset includes 39 varieties of Olea sativa (natural and cultivated) highly representative of the Mediterranean genetic resources. Several accessions are stored in in vitro culture and maintained in a greenhouse. Plants are grown in open fields. Maintenance: the callus and the seeds are stored in controlled temperature and humidity conditions and the germination and reproduction are periodically carried out to ensure the replacement and reintegration of the seeds in the collection. Multiplication: the propagation is usually made by seed and cuttings The main objective of the PPGR collection is the safeguard thegenetic resources of perennial plants interesting for Italian and Mediterranean agriculture.
