Microbial community composition in household-scale Bokashi compost was studied using 16S amplicon sequencing and shotgun metagenomics. Different stages of the process (Bokashi starter bran, actively fermenting Bokashi, leachate, soil factory) from 6 households were used for 16S amplicon sequencing, while for metagenomic sequencing only the actively fermenting Bokashi was considered.
