Data was gathered from the units that were on open access at the time (1996).Details included are: surname, first name, year of birth, place of birth, prisoner registration number, Public Record Office Victoria series and unit number (e.g., 516/7), and comments. Under comments, Mrs Button has noted immigration details (e.g., name of ship and year of arrival), occupation, other name entries for a prisoner, etc., selected from the register.Although Marion button described the source of the information on the index as VPRS 516/P, units 1 to 13, it appears that some information was taken from unit 14 to encompass registration 7491.
