This statistic shows the distribution of soft-tissue filler procedures in the United States by patient age group in 2017. Patients between 40 to 49 years of age accounted for 26 percent of the soft-filler procedures in that year. These procedures are a minimally invasive procedure which injects soft-tissue fillers into the skin which can make lips more plump, smooth facial wrinkles, fill deep folds and contours, and reduce scarring.Soft-tissue filler proceduresInjectable fillers are a type of soft-tissue fillers which can be injected just beneath the skin to help reverse the appearance of aging. However, many of these fillers are later absorbed by the body, often after approximately six months. Soft-tissue fillers can help reduce wrinkling and create a smoother appearance for the skin. Hyaluronic acid is commonly used in injectable fillers. Previously, collagen was often used but caused allergic reactions in some individuals. Complications such as bruising, swelling, and redness can occur. Skin rejuvenation methods such as these injectable fillers are becoming more popular in the global aesthetic medical and surgical market. In the United States alone, some two billion U.S. dollars was expended on non-surgical procedures - such as this one - in 2017.In 2017, those aged 50-59 years of age were most likely to receive a soft-tissue filler procedure in the United States. This group consisted of 31 percent of procedures in comparison to those under 30 that made up 4 percent of the procedures. Eyelid surgeries were some of the most common cosmetic procedures performed in the world with some 1.35 million procedures completed in 2016. Botulinum toxin or Botox was the most common non-surgical procedure performed in 2017.
