Island Biogeography of Coccinellidae : Native and Alien Species Richness Across 30 Archipelagos

This dataset supports a macroecological test of the Equilibrium Theory of Island Biogeography (MacArthur & Wilson, 1967) applied to Coccinellidae (ladybird beetles). Native and alien species richness were compiled for 190 islands across 30 archipelagos worldwide, together with island-level environmental predictors (area, maximum elevation, distance to the mainland, least-cost distance to the continent, and inter-island connectivity).<br>
Native species are defined as those having established without human assistance, through natural dispersal processes (active flight, rafting, or passive transport). Alien species are those whose presence results directly or indirectly from human action, predominantly intentional biological control introductions.
