Workplace Inclusion for Autistic Employees in Malaysia: Stakeholder Perspectives

This qualitative study explored workplace inclusion for employees with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in Malaysia from the perspectives of parents, educators/trainers, and employers. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 11 participants and analysed using an interpretivist and constructivist approach to identify recurrent themes. The study found persistent stigma, limited autism awareness, insufficient preparation among families, organisations, and professionals, and structural barriers such as fragmented governance, uneven training standards, and limited policy enforcement. Ethical approval was obtained from the relevant institutional ethics committee, and informed consent was secured from all participants before data collection.
