Major and trace element analyses of samples from New York City Water Tunnel #3

This dataset includes major and trace element analyses from 230+ rock samples excavated during the construction of New York City water tunnel #3 (Chief collector: Scott Chesman). These samples are essential for the investigation of New York City’s geology, as well as the tectonic processes that shaped the Appalachian region. The dataset contains major (ICP:ES) and trace (ICP:MS) elemental analyses of rare high grade-granulitic samples from the Brooklyn and Queens sections of the tunnel.
