资源简介:
This study explores how the duration of Type 2 diabetes affects a person’s ability to taste sweet and fatty flavors. The researchers compared people who have had diabetes for less than 5 years (recent) with those who have had it for more than 5 years (chronic). They found that people with chronic diabetes have a higher threshold for detecting these tastes, meaning they need a higher concentration of a substance to be able to taste it. Specifically, they found that chronic patients needed a higher concentration of linoleic acid (a type of fat) and sucrose (a type of sugar) to detect the taste compared to recent patients. This suggests that having Type 2 diabetes for a longer period might affect a person’s sense of taste. However, the relationship between diabetes and taste disorders is still not fully understood and more research is needed. This study is a step towards better understanding this relationship.
