Barkley Canyon Mid-East Multibeam Non-rotating Sonar Deployed 2012-06-25

The Imagenex Delta-T multibeam sonar 4675 was deployed on 2012-06-25 at Barkley Canyon Mid-East. Barkley Canyon Mid-East is a location in Barkley Canyon near a canyon wall. At this location, benthic processes, biodiversity, and sediment dynamics are observed. This device is a Multibeam Non-rotating Sonar. Multibeam non-rotating sonars transmit a pulse at a certain frequency along a number of narrow beams. The sonar processor looks at the return signal for each pulse and decides where along that pulse return time lays the strongest return, giving a single point in space, such as water column depth. It was deployed on a fixed platform. Data from this deployment were archived and made available through Ocean Networks Canada's Oceans 3.0 digital infrastructure, with quality assurance and derived data products following established practices.
