La 'funzione' Galateo tra Sei e Ottocento

Just after a few years after his death, Antonio de Ferrariis called Galateo (1444-1517) deserved the interest of various disciplines' scholars (literates, medical, historians, geographers, philosophers, scientists) who reserved constant attentions. Such attentions continued in the course of the following centuries and to date, obviously with different implications and perspectives. Therefore, between the sixth and the nineteenth century it can be said that Galateo played a sort of 'function' in the dual meaning of reference author and role model. In short, his works have come to a real 'critical fortune', far from being exhausted and, indeed, still today fueled by the renewed interest in its writings, whith a surprising far-sighted multidisciplinary methodology, with wide and frequent use of epigraphy, archeology, antiquity, ethnology, literature and historical-geographic investigations.
