The Salinity Influenced Soils on Non-Federal Land, 1992 map shows
soils considered 'Salinity Influenced' on all non-Federal land. One
blue dot equals 10,000 acres of cropland, potential cropland, or
Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) land; One green dot equals 10,000
acres of all other non-Federal land. The criteria for a 'Salinity
Influenced' soil on this map is where the maximum soil salinity
measurement is greater than 4 millimhos/cm in the upper 40 inches of
soil. Four millimhos/cm is the level at which most plants are
adversely affected. Cropland includes cultivated and non-cultivated
cropland. Potential cropland is that land where the potential for
conversion to cropland is either 'Medium-likely in foreseeable future'
or 'High-very likely'. NRI data are not available for Alaska.
