Genotyping by Sequencing of a diversity panel of 192 accessions of grain Amaranth (Amaranthus hypochondriacus)

A panel of 192 diverse accessions of grain amaranth (Amaranthus hypochondricus) were subjected to restriction digestion and sequencing. The population included accessions from all around the globe, 120 indigenous accessions and 72 exotic accessions. Illumina sequencing was conducted on libraries which were prepared using methylation sensitive ApeKI restriction enzyme. The goal of the study was to identify SNPs present in the panel which could be utilized for genetic diversity studies and Association mapping of various traits in grain amaranth.
