资源简介:
A normalized transcriptome library was sequenced for the marine pennate diatom Amphora coffeaeformis. Diatoms are one of the most ecologically important marine organisms that are estimated to account for ~20% of the total global carbon fixation. Raphid pennate diatoms, like A. coffeaeformis, are able to adhere and move on all underwater surfaces through the secretion of bioadhesive material. The colonization of man-made structures, termed biofouling, causes a substantial problem due to increased drag on water-borne vessels and thus increased fuel consumption. The aim of this study was to establish a transcriptome database to allow for the identification of proteins involved in diatom underwater adhesion.
