Improving drought resistance in rice is essential for stable crop production under climate change. To explore the molecular basis of drought adaptation, we investigated four cultivated rice varieties and five wild relatives using a multi-omics approach. We established an indoor, unmanned phenotyping platform that non-invasively and automatically collects temporal data on plant responses to drought stress. Using this system, we obtained RNA-Seq data from cultivated and wild rice varieties under drought conditions. In addition, we generated long-read sequencing data for genome assembly of eight varieties without available reference genomes to enable accurate transcriptome analysis.
