This dataset was collected from montane forests in the southeastern Tibetan Plateau and quantifies forest biomass carbon stocks, including both aboveground and belowground components. In addition to carbon storage, the dataset includes stand age and multiple indicators of forest structural attributes. Forest structural complexity was characterized using the coefficient of variation (CV, %) of tree diameter at breast height (DBH) within each plot, representing within-stand size heterogeneity. To further capture multidimensional structural development, we constructed a composite structural development index (PC1) based on principal component analysis (PCA). This index integrates key structural attributes, including canopy height, canopy cover, basal area, and mass ratio (defined as the proportion of total stand biomass contributed by the dominant species). The first principal component axis (PC1) was retained as an overall indicator of stand structural development. Together, these variables provide a comprehensive representation of forest structure and its relationship with biomass carbon storage across a gradient of stand development in this region.
