We tested the perceptual role of four visual areas of the mouse cortex (V1, LM, AL and PM) on three perceptual tasks (orientation discrimination, contrast change detection and speed increment detection). We find that optogenetic suppression of V1, LM and AL, but not PM, increase thresholds on the orientation and contrast tasks. Suppression of PM increases FA rates on the contrast and speed tasks, independent of visual stimulus position. The included dataset provides visual stimulus information, optogenetic condition, and behavioral output information for all trials for each mouse included in this manuscript. Data are divided by task and visual stimulus position (contra is aligned with the optogenetic manipulation; ipsi is processed by the other hemisphere), and have an accompanying Excel file with information on the area manipulated and mouse genotype.
